In 2001 Barclays moved its head office to Canary Wharf – a momentous move after having been based in Lombard Street for 315 years! The move was seen as a chance to promote cultural change with 5000 staff from across multiple locations working in a state-of-the-art building in central London.
Barclay employees were notified of the move on Sept 5th 2001, six days before the notorious 9/11 attacks, after which the plans for the 50 storey building quickly changed to 31. The new office opened in 2005 and since then small refurbishments and improvements have been made to the impressive building on a rolling programme. Having worked with architects Perkins and Will, an established, trusted washroom partner, on a few projects such as 99 Bishops Gate, 7 Westferry Circus and Citibank WC refurbishment, we were pleased to work with them again to fulfil the customers’ requirements for the washrooms specification on this project. The contractors on this project were Rox Interiors.
With 10 floors of large washrooms, Barclays needed robust products that would last well and meet the high expectations of the discerning financial client. With our expertise in bespoke design, we were able to create products to meet their vanity design requirements exactly.
We supplied matching taps and soap dispensers with the products supplied on a just-in-time basis for phased works.
